An excerpt from the article:
When von Sass started writing stock quotes in poetic stanzas, he realized he was in the wrong career. So he left his trader's position with a chartered bank in Calgary to work in advertising at the encouragement of a friend who quipped, "They're always looking for people whose heads are filled with useless information like yours." He worked at an ad agency for a year and ran his own marketing company for three years with his then-wife.
But the work lacked the creativity he craved. "It's not small potatoes but, in Calgary, it's the same clients -- oil and gas," von Sass says. "Both of us got bored." The company folded, and von Sass joined Critical Mass, an interactive marketing company in Calgary, as a junior copywriter four years ago. "First of all, Critical Mass is a great place to work," says the 38 year old, who has a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in history. Now as a senior copywriter, von Sass works with large, blue-chip companies in his redefined career in the creative field.
